Hello and thank you for supporting the Hampshire split grade competition!
This email is being sent to the email address associated with all entries to the event to let you know about the timetable for the day.
Based on feedback from the Hampshire Closed, we are going to try and spread weigh-in times across the day so that you spend less time at the venue waiting around. This is a change to what we have done before and we would appreciate your feedback afterwards.
Weigh-in and competition times are being run in grade order, with Red belts starting first, followed by Yellow belts and so on. Adult categories will run at the same time as Junior categories, so all Red/yellow/orange/etc belts no matter what age should be at St Marys Leisure Centre at the same time please.
Categories will be created based on grade and then on the closest 5 participants in weight. Where necessary we shall have smaller (or larger) categories when weight differences require it. We are unable to allow players of large weight differences to compete against one another but will try to cater for everyone.
This is a informal, fun participation event. We will be flexible and try to accommodate everyone. It is important that all participants, coaches and spectators keep the “fun” aspect in mind and try and be flexible also.
9:30am – Mat laying commences (all welcome).
9:45am – Red Belt weigh-in starts.
10:15am – Red Belt weigh-in closes.
10:30am – Red Belt competition begins.
10:45am – Yellow Belt Weigh-in starts.
11:15am – Yellow Belt weigh-in closes.

11:45am – Orange, Green & Blue Belt weigh-in opens
12:15pm – Orange, Green& Blue Belt weigh-in closes

As you can imagine, this rolling weigh-in adds a lot of complexity to our planning. Please do arrive early and be ready to weigh-in at the times shown.
Venue, Parking and Catering:
Venue: St Marys Leisure Centre, St Marys Road, Southampton, SO14 0BL. ( http://www.solent.ac.uk/sport/facilities/st-marys-leisure-centre.aspx )
Southampton Solent University have again allowed us the use of their car park. The university car park is free and accessed via the entrance on East Park Terrace. Closer additional parking (non-free) is available in the Charlotte Place car park.
The leisure centre has no catering facilities, however being a inner city location there are shops, restaurants and take away places nearby and central Southampton is a short walk away. We encourage parents to bring plastic drinking bottles with plain water and packed lunches or snacks for their children.
Licenses and BJA regulations:
As with all BJA (British Judo Association) events, all players need to bring a current BJA license on the day. We are not able to allow participation without a valid (in date) BJA license. We are following the BJA regulations forthis event and have officials giving their time to run the event. The officials appropriate officials will have final say on all matters in relation to how the event is run, we ask all participants, coaches parents and spectators to be patient with the volunteers putting on the event and to respect their decisions and promote the respectful attitude of Judo even if things do not appear right to you.
Weigh-in will be done in Judo trousers and t-shirt. As weight categories are being made by grouping the 5 closest weights, you do not need to worry about “making weight” so please do not show up hungry or thirsty. You will also not be allowed to “strip down” to under wear.
This event will NOT be using the new IJF experimental rules.
If you have any questions please direct them to any of the organisers on the day or email email@example.com
